Groups Who Make Crew 67 Possible

CHARTERING ORGANIZATION
American Legion John H. Buckley Post 32

Since 1920, American Legion Post 32 has welcomed Veterans from all branches of our Armed Forces. They have chartered Troop 67 since the 1960s, and they have chartered Crew 67 since its inception. In addition to serving as our chartering organization, American Legion Post 32 provides space for our monthly meetings; maintains facilities for camping, fishing, hiking, and canoeing at Beaver Reservoir; and offers financial support through fundraisers and gifts from individual members.

NATIONAL ORGANIZATION
Scouting America

Scouting America provides the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training, which helps young people be “Prepared. For Life.®” The Scouting organization is composed of more than 1 million youth members between the ages of 5 and 21 and more than 628,000 volunteers in local councils throughout the United States and its territories. Crew 67 was established as part of Scouting America’s Venturing Program for youth ages 14-20.

PARTNER TROOPS
Troop 67B and Troop 67G

Crew 67 was originally established as an offshoot of Troop 67 to enable co-ed groups to participate in High Adventures. As Crew 67’s purpose and activities have evolved to encompass other Adventures, we have maintained a close relationship with Troop 67 including sharing gear, recruiting activities, volunteers, and membership.

A Youth-led Program

Venturing is a fully youth-led program. This means that 1) all members of the Crew take ownership of the program by choosing and planning their own adventures, 2) all members of the Crew are responsible for self-governance through electing officers who run meetings and manage the program, and 3) all members of the Crew gain real-world experience by organizing events, managing budgets, leading others, and serving their community. Adult advisors assist the Crew by 1) providing mentorship in planning and management skills, 2) ensuring safety in all adventures, and 3) providing support for logistics that require legal age, contractual obligations, or financial clearance.
